Esporles: a place where everyone is welcome!
Esporles is blessed with abundant orchards and plentiful fruit —Joan B. Binimelis (1595)—
Esporles is an ancient land with an open valley and an enterprising, forward-looking town. The municipality stretches across the inner slopes of the Serra de Tramuntana, Mallorca's northern mountain range, linking up with the municipalities of Palma, Valldemossa, Banyalbufar and Puigpunyent. One of the main gateways to the Tramuntana mountains (at a distance of just 12 km from the capital), Esporles is easily reachable by road (either by public transport or private vehicle) or on foot. Although the municipality is relatively small (about 36 km2), thanks to its makeup and orographic features, it is much admired by all those in search of all-round excellence. Dense holm oak woods prevail on the slopes of Sa Fita del Ram, Mola de Son Pacs and Moletó de sa Granja mountains, with dry-stone walled terraces in the middle covered in vines or olive, carob or almond trees, and fertile irrigated land in the valleys featuring resplendent green orchards and orange groves.
Most of the community lives in the municipality's two traditional settlements: the town of Esporles or the halmet of S’Esgleieta, although they have now been joined by newer urban areas, like Ses Rotgetes de Canet or Son Cabaspre housing estate.
Water has formed an intrinsic part of life in Esporles since ancient times and it has played a key role in the municipality's economic development and in the definition of a distinctive personality.
To the north, the municipality links up with the road that crosses the Tramuntana mountains (the Ma-10), and just 9 km away, the little fishing cove of Port des Canonge can be found–a long-established haven for the people of Esporles.
